BREAKING: Railway crash injures at least 50 – passenger train smashed into freight

Reports from the scene say two trains collided with each other in Meerbusch, located in Nordrhein-Westfalen region of Germany.

Initial reports suggest at least 50 people have been injured in the horror smash tonight.

The fire department from Meerbusch and the rescue service are at the scene with a large contingent.

Because of the hanging overhead lines, the rescue teams have not yet been able to get to the injured.

The Federal Police told BILD: “We assume at least 20 injured.”

Other authorities suggested as many as 50 are hurt.

The railway confirmed a National Express train and a train from DB Cargo are involved.
