Car explodes into flames at Christmas fair in London

The car exploded on Pinner High Street in north-west London this evening as a Christmas fair was being held.

The outdoor Pinner Panto show was also taking place when the car erupted into flames.

One Twitter user posted a shocking video of the car on flames on the busy high street.

He said the cause was unknown but claimed it was been parked in a “suspect” location. Police said they were not treating the incident as suspicious at this stage.

The video shows police officers clearing the road as smoke and flames billow from the vehicle.

A voice can be heard urging people to leave the scene.

A man says: “Guys, time to go home. Go that way. That car is seriously on fire.”

The Twitter user said: “Car on fire in Pinner village, right in the middle of the Christmas fair.

“Cause unclear but where it was parked was suspect.”

MP Nick Hurd wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to police; stewards and fire brigade for a speedy response to the dramatic car fire that disrupted #pinnerpanto this evening.”

Pinner Pantomime responded to the MP’s comments on Twitter.

They said: “Yes thank you everyone – and also the public who responded to directions.

“St John’s Ambulance were also on standby to assist if needed.”

Greenville Police tweeted: “Swift work by MPS Pinner responding to a car on fire in Bridge Steet this evening has been resolved with the assistance of fire brigade.”
