PMQs LIVE: Theresa May to stand strong ahead of Philip Hammond’s 2017 Budget

The Prime Minister and the opposition leader will go head-to-head at midday before the Chancellor makes his much-anticipated Budget announcement, which begins at 12.30pm.

Mrs May said the “balanced approach” to this year’s Budget was only made possible by the hard work and sacrifice of the British people.

Her spokesman said: “[The Budget] will adopt a balanced approach, continuing to restore the public finances to health while investing in the NHS and public services and tackling the chronic shortage of housing.”

Meanwhile, Mr Hammond has promised that his Budget will make a significant investment in skills and infrastructure.
