While 12 people on the ground floor were able to evacuate, those on the upper levels were not as fortunate. These adults were on a sponsored vacation, organized by specialized associations.
The importance of safety inspections has come under scrutiny. Kielwasser noted that the vacation home had not undergone the obligatory safety inspection and lacked the necessary characteristics to host the public safely. Comparing it to obtaining a license for driving, she emphasized that hosting people requires adhering to specific safety regulations for the wellbeing of all.
While the smoke detectors met certain standards, they were not the type deemed suitable for properties accommodating the public. The tragedy was a stark reminder of the vital role proper safety measures play in safeguarding lives.
